These weird RPG armor sets don’t protect you or look good.
RPG worlds are very different from one another. On the different tasks these games give you, you’ll see beautiful fantasy forests, the edges of faraway galaxies, and scary underground lairs. You’ll want to protect yourself as much as possible because you know you’ll be facing many dangers and scary animals.
As it turns out, the armor you can find in RPGs is just as different as the games themselves. You will definitely find a lot of safety gear, but you will also definitely find some weird armor while you’re out there. That being said, which of these group armors is the strangest?
Falmer Armor – Skyrim
The Falmer of Skyrim are a strange and dangerous group of people, but they’ve changed how they live to fit their new underground homes. Mostly their weapons and armor. You can get this armor from a lot of the Falmer you kill on their ways.
It is mostly made up of tough pieces of the Chaurus, which also lives in Skyrim’s many caves. It’s already weird to wear armor made of bugs, but wearing their helmet makes it even stranger. Since Falmer are blind, it makes sense that the mask on their helmets covers their eyes. But not when you wear it.
Doom Fang Pauldron – Destiny 2
Destiny 2 has a lot of armor that is way too heavy. But since you’re the last chance for people, it makes sense that you should be able to show off.
The Doom Fang Pauldrons are both cool and strange. It looks like the bright purple horns are just for show, but they do say something. Even stranger is the fact that the name “Doom Fang Pauldrons” is a bit controversial for this piece of armor. Where did they get to? What do different guardians call them?
Diamond City Guard Armor – Fallout
The world of Fallout is a cruel place. People who live there have to do almost anything to make ends meet. It’s a strange world, though.
When you put these things together, it makes sense that things like the Diamond City Guard Armor exist. It’s clear right away that those are just catcher pads from Diamond City’s dressing rooms. It might protect the people who wear it a little, but not nearly enough in this dangerous world. Also, they look pretty silly.
Verchitin Armor – Wasteland 3
This Wasteland series has never felt bad about being as weird as it is. It actually admits it quite often. The Verchitin Armor isn’t the strangest thing in the world, but it’s also not the most normal either.
There are parts of an alien or big bug that look like this. The helmet has eyes that make it stand out. Things on the list, on the other hand, say that they have a military ID number on them. That doesn’t mean anything good, but no one knows what it means either.
Desert Sorceress Set – Dark Souls 2
Even though it’s hot in the desert, that doesn’t fully explain why Dark Souls 2’s Desert Sorceress armor doesn’t cover much.
The item’s description says that these simple clothes are filled with strong magic. That may be true, but the outfit looks more like a swimsuit than something you’d want to wear to battle. “Bikini armor” has been used in worse ways in games, but this isn’t one of them. It still makes you wonder why it was a choice.
Chocobo Suit – Final Fantasy
The cute but powerful chocobo has been a constant in the Final Fantasy series, so it makes sense that it should also live on as an armor set.
You can wear the feathery yellow armor and ruin anyone who gets in your way, whether you want to be a chocobo or just think 8 Ball Pool needs a little more fun. It might not be the best armor, but it makes a statement. What does that sentence say? Who knows?
Xanthous Crown – Dark Souls 3
Soulsborne games have never been afraid to try new and strange things. However, Dark Souls 3 has what might be one of the strangest pieces of armor in the series.
The Xanthous Crown says it’s fit for a king, but when you see it, it doesn’t look like it. It’s interesting to look at how the bandages on your character’s head are wrapped around him or her like a snake. Without a doubt, that armor stands out on its own. But you’d think it would just get in the way.
Jar Helm – Elden Ring
There are a lot of strange things going on in Lands Between by Ellen Ring. The jar cap is a strange thing that might be missed, though. It’s silly and maybe not smart to wear a jar on your head without any holes in it, but it’s not really weird.
Until you meet the living jars that live in The Lands Between. Does that mean that this jar on your head used to hold the meat that fills these jars? That’s not only weird, it’s also pretty gross.
