That’s why learning to draw a hat can be fun as it gives you the opportunity to design your own fun piece of clothing! This guide, which you’re about to work through, will show you everything you need to know about it.
How To Draw A Beanie
Step 1
The hat you are going to draw has a big fluffy pompom and that’s where we’ll start in this how to draw a hat guide.
For this look, you can start by drawing a rough oval made up of some jagged lines.
So you can make this peanut nice and fluffy by adding a few small curved lines to the shape.
That’s all for this step and you can move on to the rest of the cap!
Step 2
Now that you’re done drawing the pompom on the hat, you can move on to the hat itself!
In this step we will draw the curved top of the cap. To do this, you can draw a jagged line starting from both sides of the bubble.
Once you’ve drawn these lines, the next step is to add the border of the cap.
Step 3
In this part of our guide to drawing a cap, you’ll add the wide border of the cap. You’ll draw this by adding lots of curved lines that connect together at the base of the hat part of the cap.
You can then use some more curved lines for the sides of the circle and then refine it with more rounded lines that connect to each other.
These should be positioned to match the ones aligned above them. Finally you can add some vertical lines on the rim of the hat as shown in the reference image.
Step 4
You have now completed the general outline of the beanie design so you can start drawing the pattern over it in the next few steps.
There will be two sections for the beanie and we’re going to draw the first one now.
To do this, simply draw a curved, irregular line horizontally across the width of the cap. Once you’ve drawn the pattern line, you’re ready for the final details in the next step.
Step 5
It’s almost time you added some cool colors in this tutorial on how to draw a hat, but first we need to add a few final details.
First you can draw the second pattern line under the previous one. That concludes all the details of this guide, but you don’t have to stop here!
Before proceeding, be sure to add your dates and any details you may want. You can add more details to the model or change it completely! Maybe you could add some dots or other shapes.
If you’re particularly creative, you can even draw a background or maybe even take a selfie to show yourself in the hat.
Step 6
In this step of drawing your hat, you can relax while coloring!
In our reference image, we chose a red and blue color scheme with a bright yellow for the pom pom.
This is just one of the many color combinations you can choose from! In this step you can let your creativity run free and use one of your favorite colors.
You can also achieve amazing color effects with the artistic media and tools you choose to bring color to life.
You can get bright and vivid colors by using acrylic paints or colored pencils (some tips).
Softer colors can be created using mediums such as watercolor and colored pencils to name a few.
These are just a few of the many amazing mediums and tools you can use to bring your colors and this design to life. Feel free to experiment and see what comes to mind.
